Bathwick School PTA
As a school parent or carer you will automatically become a member of Bathwick PTA. Getting involved – even just a little – is a great way to make friends and feel part of the school community.
Bathwick PTA raises funds for the school to pay for ‘extras’, which generally wouldn’t be bought with school funds. Our most recent project was the refurbishment of the ICT suite, which now provides fantastic resources with 35 ‘all-in-one’ PCs for our children to use. We have also funded most of the outdoor playground equipment, the school library, and the landscaping of the spiritual garden and wildlife area. We also regularly contribute towards smaller items such as art and music resources. Our current Chair of the PTA is Annabel Merrylees. Please direct any queries about the PTA through Annabel
As well as fundraising, PTA events are designed to be fun and to offer something for everyone. The children love the discos and Freezy Fridays (ice lollies after school), the parents enjoy Quiz Night and everyone tucks into the cake sales.
It is the fantastic contribution of our parents that makes all this happen. PTA committee members are usually made up from the class reps who take responsibility for keeping their year groups informed. Reps remain for at least a year (many do so for longer). The PTA meets twice termly along with anyone else who wants to come along regularly or now and then. We keep in touch by email and make sure things happen with the support of our wider network of PTA volunteers who pitch in as much or as little as they are able to.
If you think you might like to join us please contact our chair, Annabel. You’ll have lots of fun and if you’re working less because of the children, it’s a great way to be a part of something and to keep your brain going! The PTA will help you to make life long friends and get to know the ins and outs of the school. Also, your children will think you’re the coolest for knowing the Mufti date in advance, and it’s all in a great cause!
“I was terrified of all those mums baking cakes when I first joined, but in the end it’s not just the children who end up making lifelong friends at Bathwick”A parent, Year 3
