Share a Million Stories

As part of World Book Day 2020 we are participating in ‘Share a million stories’. This is a National campaign to promote the importance not only of reading but of sharing the reading – sharing a story. There has sadly been a decline across the country in reading for pleasure and we are keen to support this attempt to boost its importance and spark the imagination of all our children. We will therefore be aiming to share as many stories as we can during World Book Day month (Thursday 27th February to Sunday 29th March) both in school and at home. Our total will be uploaded onto the World Book day website at the end of the challenge. There is also a great deal of information on the website should you wish to view it. Share a Million Stories

A ‘Story share’ is a minimum of 10 minutes of reading with someone else. The children can read to you or be read to. The children will be bringing home a record sheet to record every share they carry out at home. It can be from any type of book or comic – whatever interests them and you! It just needs to be for a minimum of 10 minutes. Bedtime is a great time for this.

We will also be recording all the story sharing that we do in school and see which class has recorded the most minutes!
